SMOOTHIES was withdrawn on 26.6.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter E STAR (J Moreira). Before being allowed to race again, SMOOTHIES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As N Callan was unable to fulfil the engagement on TELECOM ELITE due to being overweight, M Chadwick was substituted as the rider of that horse. N Callan was fined the sum of $5,000. TOM’S STYLE shifted in at the start and bumped E STAR, causing both horses to become unbalanced. STYLING CITY and PRINCE OF FROG bumped at the start. After this, PRINCE OF FROG was steadied from a wide barrier and shifted across behind runners. ORIENTAL AMIGO began only fairly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Despite being vigorously ridden for some distance in the early stages, SMART LEADER failed to muster speed. Passing the 1000 Metres, BRIGHT VISION was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of TELECOM ELITE which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the tightening to BRIGHT VISION. After the 800 Metres, STYLING CITY was left racing wide and without cover. Also after the 800 Metres, SMART LEADER was left racing wide and without cover and then got its head on the side and lay out in the middle stages and rounding the Home Turn. Approaching the 500 Metres, TAKE WHAT YOU NEED raced tight outside TOTAL EXCESS which shifted to the outside of TOM’S STYLE. A veterinary inspection of HARDLY SWEARS and TOM’S STYLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. E STAR and SMART LEADER were sent for sampling. <29/6/2020 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that E STAR was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, E STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
