HAPPY REUNION and WELL DRAGON began only fairly. SUPER WINNER shifted out at the start, resulting in KING DRAGON being checked and losing ground. In this incident, KING DRAGON shifted out and bumped STUNNING IMPACT which became unbalanced, shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of LET’S TAKE IT EASY. After this, from the outside barriers, STUNNING IMPACT, LET’S TAKE IT EASY and BETTER CHOICE were all steadied and shifted across behind runners. After being ridden along in the early stages to obtain a forward position from a wide barrier, SUPER WINNER was steadied after the 1300 Metres to obtain cover when racing wide, however, after the 900 Metres remained racing wide and without cover. Near the 1050 Metres, HEZA BEAUTY was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY REUNION which shifted in when traveling keenly and awkwardly placed inside the heels of CLASSIC POSH. After this, HAPPY REUNION continued to over-race and near the 950 Metres was steadied away from the heels of WONDER EXPRESS and then passing the 900 Metres was checked away from the heels of WONDER EXPRESS. HAPPY REUNION continued to prove difficult to settle and after the 800 Metres was again steadied away from the heels of WONDER EXPRESS. Passing the 900 Metres, CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE was crowded for room between ALL WONGCHOY which shifted out away from the heels of SPEED FAY FAY and ALL FOR ST PAUL’S which shifted in. Passing the 600 Metres, WELL DRAGON raced tight between BETTER CHOICE and KING DRAGON which was taken out by HAPPY REUNION. Approaching the 200 Metres, A Hamelin (ALL FOR ST PAUL’S) dropped his whip. Apprentice K H Chan (ALL WONGCHOY) was spoken to regarding using the whip on a horse out of contention. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on ALL WONGCHOY at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ALL WONGCHOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BETTER CHOICE and SUPER WINNER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CLASSIC POSH and HEZA BEAUTY were sent for sampling.
