NATURAL STORM, trained by Mr P F Yiu, was entered for and was consequently listed as reserve No. 3 for this race. It was established that after NATURAL STORM had barrier trialed on Tuesday, 17 March 2020, that horse had been treated with Equipalazone at the request of Mr Yiu. When it was subsequently identified that this treatment fell within the recommended withdrawal period, NATURAL STORM was withdrawn from this event. Mr Yiu was fined the sum of $10,000 for being in breach of Rule 50(2) in that he had failed in his responsibility for all matters pertaining to the running of his stable. As the start was effected, HEZA BEAUTY became fractious, reared and consequently missed the start by a significant margin. Before being allowed to race again, HEZA BEAUTY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. Soon after the start, TAILOR MADE and SUMSTREETSUMWHERE were inconvenienced by MOON PEAKS which shifted out. Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, CIRCUIT HASSLER failed to muster speed. Approaching the 1000 Metres, CLASSIC POSH was steadied to avoid the heels of HINYUEN SWIFTNESS (Apprentice C Wong) which shifted in when not properly clear. Shortly afterwards, CLASSIC POSH was further restrained when HINYUEN SWIFTNESS was steadied. Apprentice Wong was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure he provides sufficient clearance when shifting ground. When CLASSIC POSH was restrained, COURAGEOUS DRAGON and CIRCUIT HASSLER, which were following, were both inconvenienced. At the 750 Metres, HINYUEN SWIFTNESS was steadied away from the heels of PARTY GENIUS (G van Niekerk) which shifted in when not properly clear. G van Niekerk was reprimanded and told to ensure that he is fully clear when shifting ground. HAPPY REUNION was left racing wide and without cover at the 750 Metres. Passing the 500 Metres, HEZA BEAUTY was steadied when awkwardly placed behind TAILOR MADE and CIRCUIT HASSLER. After being brushed by HEZA BEAUTY near the 250 Metres, HAPPY REUNION shifted out away from that horse. C Y Ho, the rider of SKYEY SUPREME, was warned for using the whip on a horse which was out of contention. After the race, Apprentice C Wong (HINYUEN SWIFTNESS) reported that after being ridden along to take up a prominent position, the horse had to work harder than he would have liked throughout the early and middle stages and consequently did not respond to his riding in the Straight and weakened noticeably. A veterinary inspection of HINYUEN SWIFTNESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of TAILOR MADE and MOON PEAKS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HEZA BEAUTY, TUNG WAH GLORY and TRIPLE TRIPLE were sent for sampling.
