Trainer D E Ferraris was fined $3,000 for presenting and parading SUNNY MAJOR without a parade hood which was part of its declared gear. FORTUNE PATROL shifted out on jumping and made contact with SKY GEM. ART OF RAW and GARLIC YEAH also bumped at the start. REEVE’S MUNTJAC began awkwardly, made contact with the hindquarters of ASSOCIATION FANS and lost ground at the start. From wide barriers, VICTORIOUS SEEKER and ROMANTIC JOURNEY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. When ART OF RAW commenced to improve its position from the 1100 Metres, WICKER shifted out from behind ASSOCIATION FANS in order to improve with ART OF RAW and consequently made contact with ART OF RAW and forced that horse wider. As ART OF RAW (B Shinn) then proceeded in advance of WICKER after passing the 1000 Metres, it shifted in marginally, resulting in WICKER being taken in onto ASSOCIATION FANS, causing that horse, which was racing with its head on the side, to shift in further and momentarily tighten the running of SUNNY MAJOR which was steadied. B Shinn was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Approaching the 600 Metres, YOUNG GLORY and GARLIC YEAH raced tight as YOUNG GLORY attempted to shift out from behind WICKER to improve with GARLIC YEAH. YOUNG GLORY then raced in restricted room inside GARLIC YEAH until after passing the 600 Metres. Approaching the 500 Metres, ASSOCIATION FANS, which was laying in, was steadied away from the heels of VICTORIOUS SEEKER. At the entrance to the Straight, ART OF RAW shifted out and brushed the hindquarters of GARLIC YEAH. Passing the 150 Metres, MCMUNIGAL shifted in away from YOUNG GLORY after being taken in marginally by that horse which shifted ground. Approaching the 100 Metres, ART OF RAW was struck across the nose by the whip of J Moreira (VICTORIOUS SEEKER). After being taken in marginally by YOUNG GLORY approaching the 50 Metres, MCMUNIGAL was awkwardly placed near the heels of GARLIC YEAH close to the finishing line and consequently was not ridden out to the end of the race. Over the concluding stages, VICTORIOUS SEEKER raced tight inside GARLIC YEAH. Apprentice C Wong (ASSOCIATION FANS) was warned for having used his whip on a horse which was out of contention. A veterinary inspection of ART OF RAW and WICKER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SKY GEM, GARLIC YEAH and YOUNG GLORY were sent for sampling.
