C Schofield (EVERYONE’S JOY) and K Teetan (FALCON TURBO) were each fined $2,000 for failing to present themselves in the Parade Ring by the required time. HANG’S DECISION began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SALTO OLIMPICO. DEFINING MOMENT began only fairly and then was crowded for room between MR WEALTH and FALCON TURBO which shifted in. DEFINING MOMENT was then steadied to obtain cover. From wide barriers, SUCH A HAPPINESS and SEERITE DRAGON were steadied to obtain cover in the early stages. Passing the 900 Metres, MONGOLIAN KING was left racing wide and without cover. Close to the finishing line, SEERITE DRAGON was awkwardly placed behind NAMJONG PLUS. In the Straight, DEFINING MOMENT lay in under pressure and proved difficult to ride. After the race, S de Sousa stated that after obtaining a trailing position in the early stages, WIND N GRASS travelled satisfactorily until the horse was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of BEAUTY ICON near the 500 Metres. He said after this WIND N GRASS immediately came off the bridle and, despite being ridden along, commenced to give ground. He said although he had to shift WIND N GRASS out away from EARTH TRILOGY near the 250 Metres, the horse was well beaten at this time. He added that WIND N GRASS was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to close off the race. A veterinary inspection of WIND N GRASS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
