PACKING WARRIOR was slow to begin. From wide barriers, JIMMU and VINCY were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Despite being hard ridden for some distance in the early stages, UNICRON JEWELLERY failed to muster speed. Passing the 700 Metres, SMART PATCH raced tight between VINCY and PACKING WARRIOR which commenced to shift out. At the 400 Metres, SMART PATCH was bumped by PACKING WARRIOR which was held up for clear running behind CHAMPION SUPREME. PACKING WARRIOR was then shifted to the outside of CHAMPION SUPREME passing the 350 Metres. When questioned regarding the performance of CHAMPION SUPREME, Z Purton stated that he was able to obtain a midfield position on the horse without having to make any use of it and the horse travelled satisfactorily in the early and middle stages. He said after shifting CHAMPION SUPREME to the outside of BELLAGIO at the entrance to the Straight, CHAMPION SUPREME did not quicken as he expected and then was disappointing in the manner in which it did not finish off the race. He added the only explanation he could offer for CHAMPION SUPREME’s disappointing run was that the horse may be better suited by being ridden from back in the field as it had previously finished off its race strongly in those circumstances. Following the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on CHAMPION SUPREME at the request of Trainer J Moore. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. After the race, B Shinn stated that, in his opinion, COOL TEAM did not see out the distance of today’s race. Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that BEAUTY DAY had sustained a minor laceration to the right hind pastern whilst the Veterinary Surgeon reported that SMILING PRIDE was mildly lame in its right hind leg with a haematoma over its right shoulder. A veterinary inspection of VINCY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of UNICRON JEWELLERY immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, UNICRON JEWELLERY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BELLAGIO, CORDYCEPS and BEAUTY DAY were sent for sampling. <4/11/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>UNICRON JEWELLERY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. UNICRON JEWELLERY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Size this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right hind leg. As previously advised, UNICRON JEWELLERY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that SMILING PRIDE was mildly lame in its right hind leg with a haematoma over its right shoulder. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that SMILING PRIDE was lame in its right hind leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SMILING PRIDE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
