The start of the race was delayed due to PROMISE KEPT having its left front plate refitted. PROMISE KEPT was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. As the start was effected, JOYFUL CONTENDER bounded in the air, resulting in its rider, M Chadwick, becoming unbalanced. A short distance after the start, JOYFUL CONTENDER again threw its head up. In this incident, M Chadwick was struck in the head by JOYFUL CONTENDER. After the race, M Chadwick was examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL CONTENDER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. SKY TREASURE stumbled at the start. TOUCH OF LUCK shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of GRAND HARBOUR. PROMISE KEPT shifted in at the start and bumped EVER STRONG which in turn shifted in and bumped GUNNAR. After this, from a wide barrier, PROMISE KEPT was steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Despite being vigorously ridden in the early stages, EVER STRONG failed to muster speed. Making the first turn near the 700 Metres, TOUCH OF LUCK shifted out when awkwardly placed behind DOLLAR REWARD, resulting in GENEROUS HEART racing tight inside KELMIMI WINS. Near the 600 Metres, KELMIMI WINS raced tight outside GENEROUS HEART. Near the 500 Metres, GUNNAR was bumped by GRAND HARBOUR (Apprentice K H Chan) which attempted to improve outside HAPPY HAPPY STAR where there was insufficient room. Apprentice Chan was advised to exercise due care when attempting to improve in similar circumstances. DOLLAR REWARD, which was following GRAND HARBOUR, raced close to the heels of that horse in consequence. Throughout the race, SKY TREASURE travelled wide and without cover. After the race, A Sanna reported that KELMIMI WINS made an abnormal breathing noise. An endoscopic examination of KELMIMI WINS did not reveal any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, KELMIMI WINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SKY TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. A veterinary inspection of GRAND HARBOUR and JOYFUL CONTENDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TOUCH OF LUCK, DOLLAR REWARD and GUNNAR were sent for sampling. <9/9/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>SKY TREASURE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. SKY TREASURE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer Y S Tsui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, SKY TREASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
