DR RACE was withdrawn on 30.4.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore both front fetlocks) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LAMAROSA (C Schofield). Before being allowed to race again, DR RACE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BLISSFUL EIGHT began only fairly and then shortly after the start was crowded for room between MASTER ALBERT and DR PROACTIVE, both of which shifted ground. DR RESPECT was crowded for room on jumping between LUCKY THOUGHT and NATURAL FLARE, both of which shifted ground. NATURAL FLARE then shifted in and bumped WINNING WAYS which began awkwardly and shifted out. DR RESPECT had to be ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages to shift in and cross to race outside the lead near the 650 Metres at which time DR PROACTIVE was left racing wide and without cover. DR RESPECT consequently gave ground in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of DR RESPECT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Approaching the 1100 Metres, MY DEAR raced tight outside JOLLY CONVERGENCE. After being ridden along in the early stages to cross to the lead after the 1000 Metres, LUCKY THOUGHT travelled keenly. After the 700 Metres, WINNING WAYS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRECIOUS SWEETIE. After the 500 Metres, PRECIOUS SWEETIE shifted out and brushed DR PROACTIVE. PRECIOUS SWEETIE was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY GOOD GUYS near the 400 Metres. Over the concluding stages, PRECIOUS SWEETIE (T H So) raced tight outside LUCKY THOUGHT which restricted T H So in being able to ride that horse out close to the finishing line. R Bayliss (WINNING WAYS) was fined $5,000 for using the whip on a horse out of contention. PRECIOUS SWEETIE, JOLLY CONVERGENCE and LUCKY THOUGHT were sent for sampling.
