AMBITIOUS SPEEDY was withdrawn on 30.4.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter COUR VALANT (T H So). HAPPY HAPPY was also withdrawn on 30.4.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (left front medial suspensory branch injury) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter LEISURED FEET (Apprentice C Wong). Before being allowed to race again, AMBITIOUS SPEEDY and HAPPY HAPPY will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After being loaded into the barriers, TRIUMPHANT LORD became fractious and repeatedly kicked out of the back gates. Acting on veterinary advice that TRIUMPHANT LORD had sustained extensive lacerations to the right hind leg, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, TRIUMPHANT LORD will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
LOTUS BREEZE began only fairly and then was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Shortly after the start, NASHASHUK and PERFECT CHOICE bumped.
From the outside barrier, COUR VALANT was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners and when being shifted in passing the 1100 Metres got its head on the side and then became awkwardly placed outside the heels of LOTUS BREEZE making the turn near the 1050 Metres. COUR VALANT again got its head on the side and hung out making the turn after the 1000 Metres.
Passing the 600 Metres, PERFECT CHOICE and SPORTS MASTER bumped. Then near the 550 Metres, PERFECT CHOICE was crowded for room between SPORTS MASTER which lay out and PEACE ON EARTH which got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of RAICHU.
At the 300 Metres, STARLOT and JIN JIN KING raced tight.
Passing the 300 Metres, COUR VALANT lay out towards the heels of LOTUS BREEZE and then after the 300 Metres was reluctant to shift to the outside of that horse.
At the 250 Metres, PERFECT CHOICE and PEACE ON EARTH brushed.
After the 200 Metres, COUR VALANT was directed out a number of horses to obtain clear running.
Also after the 200 Metres, LOTUS BREEZE was shifted out away from behind JIN JIN KING which was giving ground.
Throughout the race, LEISURED FEET travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of JIN JIN KING immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, JIN JIN KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of PERFECT CHOICE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
STARLOT and FORMULA GALORE were sent for sampling.
