TORNADO TWIST was slow to begin.
PRECIOUSSHIP began awkwardly.
COBY BOY was crowded for room at the start between DRAGON GENERAL and NEW ASIA SUNRISE, both of which shifted ground.
From wide barriers, DRAGON GENERAL and WORLD RECORD were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 200 Metres, PRECIOUSSHIP commenced to shift to the outside of KING OPIE to obtain clear running as ASSIMILATE shifted to the inside of NEW ASIA SUNRISE to improve inside that horse. This resulted in PRECIOUSSHIP being checked after the 200 Metres when disappointed for running between KING OPIE and ASSIMILATE.
Throughout the race, NEW ASIA SUNRISE travelled wide and without cover.
C Y Ho (REGENCY BO BO) stated that it was intended for the horse to be ridden in the lead if possible. He said however REGENCY BO BO began very awkwardly and threw its head back which resulted in the horse’s head making contact with his helmet, causing him to become unbalanced. He said this also resulted in his right arm making contact with the inside gate of its barrier with the horse having to be ridden much further back than had been intended as a consequence.
A veterinary inspection of KING OPIE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LEAN PERFECTION and TORNADO TWIST were sent for sampling.
