MAGIC LEGEND lost ground when crowded for room on jumping between LAST KINGDOM and PICKEN which shifted out.
YOUNG LEGEND began awkwardly and then was bumped by FEARLESS FIRE which shifted out.
From wide barriers, SPLENDID TIMING and ROUNDABOUT were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
MAGIC LEGEND lost its right front plate in the early stages.
After being ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages, BEAUTY SPIRIT, after being crossed by FLYING TIGER HERO near the 1200 Metres, shifted out away from the heels of that horse, causing LAST KINGDOM to be crowded for room inside DRAGON COMMANDER which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of YOUNG LEGEND. As LAST KINGDOM was being steadied to obtain cover behind BEAUTY SPIRIT, VOYAGE KING got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, SPLENDID TIMING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of VOYAGE KING (K C Leung) which shifted in when not quite clear. SPLENDID TIMING then became unbalanced after being bumped by PERFECT BUDDY which was taken out by GOOD FOR YOU. K C Leung was advised to exercise more care.
After the 900 Metres, DRAGON COMMANDER was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 850 Metres, LAST KINGDOM got its head up when awkwardly placed behind BEAUTY SPIRIT.
At the 400 Metres, VOYAGE KING was shifted to the inside of GOOD FOR YOU after being disappointed for running between that horse and LAST KINGDOM.
When questioned, G van Niekerk (ROUNDABOUT) stated that he was instructed to make his run to the outside of runners in the Home Straight. He said after shifting ROUNDABOUT to the outside of runners in the early part of the Straight, he elected to allow that horse to shift out wider to see whether it would finish off the race better away from other horses. He said when shifted further away from other horses, ROUNDABOUT closed off strongly.
A veterinary inspection of FEARLESS FIRE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PICKEN and BEAUTY SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
