GREEN LUCK shifted out at the start and bumped DARK DREAM. HEAVENLY THOUGHT began awkwardly and then was bumped by MISSION TYCOON which shifted out. From wide barriers, GREEN LUCK and HARMONY VICTORY were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. GREEN LUCK lost its right hind plate in the early stages. C Schofield (EASY GO EASY WIN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1400 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CHARITY GO, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. C Schofield was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 10 February 2019 and to expire on Thursday, 14 February 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, C Schofield was fined 20,000. After the 1400 Metres, MR SO AND SO commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up for some distance when being checked away from the heels of GOLD WIN which at this time was steadied to allow TIGRE DU TERRE to cross and obtain cover behind that horse. After initially being ridden along in the early stages, DARK DREAM was left racing wide and without cover after the 1400 Metres and was consequently steadied for some distance to obtain cover behind CHARITY GO after the 1000 Metres. Approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, EASY GO EASY WIN got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle. After the 1300 Metres, HEAVENLY THOUGHT and GOLD WIN raced tight inside EASY GO EASY WIN which was then shifted out to relieve the tightening near the 1200 Metres. SUPERICH lost its left front plate near the 950 Metres. After the 900 Metres, MR SO AND SO was awkwardly placed behind GOLD WIN. PACKING WARRIOR, which was following MR SO AND SO, shifted out away from the heels of that horse and inconvenienced DARK DREAM. Near the 450 Metres, DARK DREAM was bumped by PACKING WARRIOR which shifted to the outside of CHARITY GO. MR SO AND SO had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. H Bowman (FURORE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 350 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of GOLD WIN, resulting in that horse being checked when crowded for room and in turn shifting out, resulting in EASY GO EASY WIN being taken out onto CHARITY GO which in turn shifted out and made contact with PACKING WARRIOR which became badly unbalanced and shifted out abruptly, causing DARK DREAM to be badly hampered and in turn taken out across the rightful running of HARMONY VICTORY which was checked. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DARK DREAM had sustained wounds to the inside of both hocks. The Stewards informed H Bowman that in electing not to issue a charge of more significance than careless riding, they were of the opinion that the consequences of the incident were exacerbated by the extra movement of horses which were hampered to varying degrees. In the circumstances, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for H Bowman’s licence to ride in races to be suspended for a period to commence on Wednesday, 30 January 2019 and to expire on Friday, 8 February 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, H Bowman was fined $75,000. Passing the 200 Metres, MISSION TYCOON raced tight inside KA YING STAR which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the tightening to MISSION TYCOON. For the majority of the race, EASY GO EASY WIN travelled wide and without cover. The performance of GOLD WIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLD WIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of GOLD WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SUPERICH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DARK DREAM, FURORE and MISSION TYCOON were sent for sampling. <28/1/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>SUPERICH, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. SUPERICH was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer F C Lor this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg and to have a restricted action in both front legs. Before being allowed to race again, SUPERICH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOLD WIN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. GOLD WIN was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, GOLD WIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
