TIANCHI MONSTER was reported to have been kicked by another horse when parading behind the barriers. TIANCHI MONSTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse appeared relaxed with no evidence of any impact. After being monitored behind the Start and prior to being placed in the barriers, TIANCHI MONSTER was found to be suitable to race. TIANCHI MONSTER was crowded for room on jumping between RULE THEE and CALLING THE SHOTS, both of which shifted ground. Shortly after the start, BANK ON RED and RACING FIGHTER raced tight between SOUTHERN SUPERSTAR and FAMOUS WARRIOR which shifted in. From the outside barriers, KEEN VENTURE, BIGWOOD and PATRIOT HERO were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 1550 Metres, RACING FIGHTER and FAMOUS WARRIOR were crowded for room inside DARK KNIGHT (T H So) which shifted in when being steadied to obtain cover. T H So was reprimanded and advised to exercise far more care than he did on this occasion to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and making contact with other runners. Both prior to and subsequent to this incident, FAMOUS WARRIOR was ridden along, however, took some time to muster speed. C Y Ho (BANK ON RED) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of RACING FIGHTER, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. C Y Ho was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 7 November 2018 and to expire on Sunday, 11 November 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Ho’s good race riding record. After initially being steadied to obtain cover from a wide barrier, TIANCHI MONSTER was left racing wide and without cover. Then passing the 1200 Metres, TIANCHI MONSTER was again left racing wide and without cover and was consequently ridden along to improve its position after the 1100 Metres, however, continued to race wide and without cover. After the 1100 Metres, RACING FIGHTER commenced to travel keenly and got its head up on a number of occasions when being checked away from the heels of BANK ON RED. Near the 75 Metres, BANK ON RED and FAMOUS WARRIOR bumped. A veterinary inspection of FAMOUS WARRIOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. FAMOUS WARRIOR, BIGWOOD and HIGH VOLATILITY were sent for sampling.
