WAH MAY BABY was withdrawn on 17.10.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore left front fetlock). Before being allowed to race again, WAH MAY BABY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Upon arrival at the barriers, K C Leung advised the Veterinary Officer that AVELLINO was kicked on the right hind leg by another runner during the preliminary. AVELLINO was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. From wide barriers, DARING HEART and KING’S MAN were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. When left racing wide and without cover approaching the 1200 Metres, MICKEY RICH was ridden along to settle outside the leader SPARKLING SWORD. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, AVELLINO commenced to prove difficult to settle and shifted out, inconveniencing LUCKY SHINY DAY. AVELLINO continued to race fiercely in the middle stages and at the 900 Metres shifted out away from the heels of BUNDLE OF ENERGY and was allowed to improve its position, however, was forced to race wide and without cover. Rounding the Home Turn, FINE WITH ME was awkwardly placed when racing close to the heels of MARVEL JOY and MICKEY RICH, both of which raced tight as MARVEL JOY improved its position between MICKEY RICH and SPARKLING SWORD. Then soon after straightening, FINE WITH ME was directed to the inside of the heels of MARVEL JOY to obtain clear running. After leaving the 300 Metres, SPARKLING SWORD shifted out slightly under pressure, causing MARVEL JOY to shift out and make further contact with MICKEY RICH. A veterinary inspection of MICKEY RICH and AVELLINO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BUNDLE OF ENERGY, FINE WITH ME and LUCKY SHINY DAY were sent for sampling. <19/10/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>MICKEY RICH, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. MICKEY RICH was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P F Yiu this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, MICKEY RICH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
