STAR SUPERIOR was slow to begin. FOREVER POSH was crowded for room on jumping between FLYING NOBLE and GOUTEN OF GARO, both of which shifted ground. SINCERE HORSE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped LIGHTNING STEED. LIGHTNING STEED was then badly crowded for room inside FLYING NOBLE which shifted in after being bumped by FOREVER POSH which continued to race tight inside GOUTEN OF GARO. In this incident, FLYING NOBLE and GOUTEN OF GARO both became badly unbalanced. After this, FOREVER POSH was shifted across behind runners. From a wide barrier, GREAT JOY was shifted across behind runners. Passing the 950 Metres, STAR SUPERIOR raced in restricted room inside LIGHTNING STEED (A Sanna) which, when being ridden along, improved into tight running inside FLYING NOBLE. FLYING NOBLE then shifted in marginally, resulting in LIGHTNING STEED getting its head on the side and shifting in away from FLYING NOBLE which caused further crowding to STAR SUPERIOR. A Sanna was advised to exercise more care when improving his position to ensure that he does not cause undue inconvenience to other runners. Making the turn after the 700 Metres, JUST NOT LISTENING got its head on the side and lay out. Approaching the 400 Metres, JUST NOT LISTENING, which continued to lay out, was bumped by DASHING GAINER (N Callan) which improved into tight running between JUST NOT LISTENING and FLYING GODSPELL. N Callan was severely reprimanded and advised that the contact between JUST NOT LISTENING and DASHING GAINER did not meet the standard which would result in a charge of improper riding, however, he was informed that whilst the Stewards appreciate competitive riding, he must not force runs by making undue contact with other runners. N Callan was also warned against the practice of allowing his mounts to improve into tight running which may result in an increased risk of them sustaining or causing interference. Passing the 250 Metres, GREAT JOY was bumped by STAR SUPERIOR which improved into tight running between GREAT JOY and FLYING NOBLE. In the Straight, JUST NOT LISTENING raced with its head on the side and lay out under pressure. Throughout the race, KING MORTAR travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING STEED and FLYING GODSPELL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FLYING GODSPELL, JUST NOT LISTENING and KING MORTAR were sent for sampling.
