MARQULA was withdrawn on 14.7.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BRAVE LEGEND (M Chadwick). Before being allowed to race again, MARQULA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Whilst in the saddling stalls, BRAVE LEGEND had its left front plate refitted. BRAVE LEGEND was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. FEARLESS FIRE lost its left front plate at the start. ENCOURAGING began only fairly and shortly after the start got its head on the side and shifted in and had to be checked away from the heels of SLEEP EDUCATION. LAST KINGDOM and FEARLESS FIRE bumped shortly after the start when racing tight between GO BEAUTY GO and CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO which shifted out. From the outside barrier, GONNA RUN was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Also from a wide barrier, MARZOUQ was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. ENCOURAGING lost its left front plate near the 1450 Metres and its right front plate near the 1150 Metres. Passing the 200 Metres, MARZOUQ shifted in under pressure, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten. Near the 150 Metres, GO BEAUTY GO momentarily raced tight inside CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO which in the Straight hung in under pressure and proved difficult to ride. After the race, J Moreira stated that the only explanation he could offer for the disappointing performance of LAST KINGDOM was that the horse may not have handled the track conditions. He said LAST KINGDOM travelled well enough throughout the early and middle stages, however, did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of LAST KINGDOM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that GONNA RUN had a stiff action with a sore right front fetlock. Before being allowed to race again, GONNA RUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of GREEN ENERGY and ENCOURAGING immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the trachea of each horse. Before being allowed to race again, GREEN ENERGY and ENCOURAGING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of RACING LUCK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. LAST KINGDOM, CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO and GO BEAUTY GO were sent for sampling.
