GREAT TREASURE, which was fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin. YOUNG GLORY was slow to begin and then was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From a wide barrier, INDIGENOUS STAR was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. In the early stages, SUNNY POWER was steadied to obtain cover. Passing the 1300 Metres, INDIGENOUS STAR was awkwardly placed behind SUNNY POWER which was steadied to obtain cover behind RED ELYSEES. Near the 850 Metres, RED ELYSEES shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOLLY GAINS and bumped GREAT TREASURE which became unbalanced. After the 300 Metres, INDIGENOUS STAR had some difficulty obtaining clear running and passing the 200 Metres was shifted to the inside of SUNNY POWER to improve. When questioned, M Chadwick (PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT) stated that it was felt that today’s race would not be run at a strong tempo as only MARVEL JOY and WINNING CONTROLLER had previously gone forward in their races. He said therefore, from the outside barrier, it was felt that PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT may be able to obtain a forward position without having to be ridden along and either obtain a trailing position behind the leaders or if the pace was not fast to race outside the leader. He said PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT began very well and he was able to shift across in the early stages into a forward position. He said when it was apparent that WINNING CONTROLLER would not be ridden to lead, he was then able to race outside the leader MARVEL JOY without having to ride PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT along at any stage. A veterinary inspection of SUNNY POWER and JOLLY GAINS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SUNNY POWER, WINNING CONTROLLER and PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT were sent for sampling. <9/7/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that LUCKY MASTER was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
