JOYFUL TRINITY began only fairly. Passing the 1200 Metres, THEWIZARDOFOZ was checked when crowded for room inside LUCKY BUBBLES which improved quickly to be racing to the inside of DUNDONNELL (C Schofield) as that horse was being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover behind CALIFORNIA WHIP. As the Stewards were of the view that LUCKY BUBBLES had made ground quickly inside DUNDONNELL and that C Schofield had made a satisfactory attempt to direct DUNDONNELL out after he became aware of LUCKY BUBBLES improving its position to his inside, no further action was taken, however, C Schofield was advised to exercise due care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. For some distance after the 1000 Metres, DUNDONNELL was awkwardly placed behind CALIFORNIA WHIP when travelling keenly. After the 700 Metres, DUNDONNELL got its head on the side and lay out and then in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of DUNDONNELL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Over the concluding stages, LUCKY BUBBLES and THEWIZARDOFOZ raced tight. THEWIZARDOFOZ, CALIFORNIA WHIP and BORN IN CHINA were sent for sampling.
