JOLLY GAINS was slow to begin. INVESTOR BOOM was crowded for room on jumping between MEGA TREASURE and INDIGENOUS STAR which began awkwardly and shifted out. INDIGENOUS STAR and INVESTOR BOOM were then both crowded for room shortly after the start between MEGA TREASURE and YOUNG GLORY which was taken out by PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT. From the outside barriers, CHIU CHOW KID and ENJOYABLE SUCCESS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1500 Metres, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT got its head up when awkwardly placed outside the heels of SMART CHARADE when being steadied to obtain cover behind that horse. Passing the 1400 Metres, YOUNG GLORY shifted in and bumped HAPPY SEBRING. Passing the 700 Metres, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT, which was travelling keenly, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SMART CHARADE. Near the 650 Metres, HAPPY SEBRING and CHIU CHOW KID raced tight as HAPPY SEBRING attempted to shift to the outside of PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT. Passing the 500 Metres, YOUNG GLORY was bumped by PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT which shifted to the outside of SMART CHARADE. At the 250 Metres, JOLLY GAINS was momentarily awkwardly placed behind INDIGENOUS STAR when being shifted across the heels of that horse to obtain clear running. Approaching the 50 Metres, RED ELYSEES raced tight outside JOLLY GAINS which shifted out under pressure. Then passing the finishing line, RED ELYSEES shifted in and bumped JOLLY GAINS. Over the concluding stages, SMART CHARADE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of WINNING CONTROLLER which shifted out marginally under pressure. Throughout the race, INDIGENOUS STAR travelled wide and without cover. After the race, D Whyte was unable to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of HAPPY SEBRING. He said after beginning only fairly, he was very happy with the manner in which the horse travelled in the early and middle stages, however, when placed under pressure in the Straight, HAPPY SEBRING responded only fairly. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY SEBRING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of ENJOYABLE SUCCESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HAPPY SEBRING, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT and WINNING CONTROLLER were sent for sampling.
