NAMJONG INVINCIBLE shifted in at the start and bumped NOBLE DE BOY. When being steadied to obtain cover approaching the winning post on the first occasion, WONDERFUL TIGER travelled keenly and proved difficult to settle. K C Leung (MEGATRON) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that soon after passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of HAY RUN, resulting in that horse being taken in onto NAMJONG INVINCIBLE, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and taken in across the rightful running of NOBLE DE BOY which was checked. K C Leung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 20 May 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 24 May 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, K C Leung was fined $40,000. Approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, WONDERFUL TIGER proved very difficult to settle and shifted out near the 1100 Metres when being checked away from the heels of EXPERTO CREDE. This resulted in WONDERFUL TIGER being left racing very wide and without cover. WONDERFUL TIGER was then allowed to improve its position along the Back Straight into the lead. After the 1000 Metres, ENREACHING was left racing wide and without cover. Making the turn near the 700 Metres, NAMJONG INVINCIBLE lost ground when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GRAND HARBOUR. Passing the 600 Metres, GRAND HARBOUR and ENREACHING raced tight. At the entrance to the Straight, K Teetan (HAY RUN) dropped his whip. As this was the third occasion this season that K Teetan had been reported to have dropped his whip, he was informed that should he again drop his whip during a race this season, he may be penalised. A veterinary inspection of ENREACHING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. REMARKABLE and MASTER BERNINI were sent for sampling.
