On arrival at the Start, A Sanna expressed concern regarding the action of ADVENTURER. ADVENTURER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that he could detect no obvious abnormalities. After the necessary consultations, ADVENTURER was found to be suitable to race. After the race, A Sanna again reported that the horse did not appear comfortable in its action. A further veterinary inspection of ADVENTURER immediately following the race again failed to reveal any significant findings. The performance of ADVENTURER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ADVENTURER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
BLOCKER DEE began only fairly and then was crowded for room on jumping between LUCKY WAN FENG which was taken in by FORTUNE BO BO and MY ALLY which shifted out.
MAGIC LEGEND began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SHAMAL which became unbalanced.
CALIFORNIA FORTUNE shifted in at the start and bumped ADVENTURER which was taken out by BRAVO WATCHMAN.
Shortly after the start, MY LITTLE FRIEND and KEY WITNESS bumped.
Approaching the 800 Metres, KEY WITNESS momentarily raced tight inside MY LITTLE FRIEND which shifted in marginally.
Approaching the 300 Metres, the rider of FORTUNE BO BO attempted to shift that horse to the inside of JING JING WIN when SHAMAL, which was racing to the outside of JING JING WIN, commenced to give ground. FORTUNE BO BO then got its head on the side, lay out and was very reluctant to shift to the inside of JING JING WIN. This resulted in FORTUNE BO BO being awkwardly placed behind JING JING WIN for some distance. FORTUNE BO BO was consequently held up for clear running behind JING JING WIN and BRAVO WATCHMAN which improved to be racing inside that horse. FORTUNE BO BO continued to lay out and prove difficult to ride for the remainder of the race.
Near the 75 Metres, BLOCKER DEE had difficulty obtaining clear running behind MY LITTLE FRIEND and outside CALIFORNIA FORTUNE.
After the race, D Whyte stated that, in his opinion, the 1000 Metres was too short for MAGIC LEGEND as the horse was out-paced throughout the race and as such was not able to quicken particularly with 133 lbs. A veterinary inspection of MAGIC LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
A veterinary inspection of SHAMAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MARVEL TRIBE and BRAVO WATCHMAN were sent for sampling.
