PERFECT CHOICE was withdrawn on 13.3.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter KINGSTON ONE (C Y Ho). Before being allowed to race again, PERFECT CHOICE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NASHASHUK was slow to begin. SPLIT OF A SECOND was crowded for room on jumping between FLYING MONKEY and SHARPMIND, both of which shifted ground. PEACE COMBINATION and HAVEN STREET began only fairly. LOOK ERAS shifted out at the start and hampered PEACE N PROSPERITY which in turn shifted out and bumped MY HONEY. From an outside barrier, KINGSTON ONE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 650 Metres, FLYING MONKEY momentarily raced tight between PEACE COMBINATION and LOOK ERAS which resulted in FLYING MONKEY making contact with the hindquarters of LOOK ERAS which became unbalanced. Rounding the Home Turn, SHARPMIND raced tight between PEACE N PROSPERITY and SPLIT OF A SECOND. At the entrance to the Straight, FLYING MONKEY and LOOK ERAS raced tight as a result of FLYING MONKEY shifting out. Passing the 250 Metres, SHARPMIND was shifted to the inside of FLYING MONKEY to obtain clear running. Approaching the 100 Metres, SPLIT OF A SECOND and SHARPMIND raced tight. Then passing the 100 Metres, SPLIT OF A SECOND was disappointed for running between SHARPMIND and WINFULL PATROL, both of which shifted ground. This resulted in SPLIT OF A SECOND being unable to obtain clear running for the remainder of the race and consequently not fully tested. Throughout the race, MY HONEY and LOOK ERAS travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of LOOK ERAS immediately following the race found the horse to have blood at the left nostril. An endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to have bled. LOOK ERAS, PEACE COMBINATION and FLYING MONKEY were sent for sampling. <15/3/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>LOOK ERAS, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there was blood at the horse’s left nostril and an endoscopic examination confirmed that it had bled. LOOK ERAS was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer Y S Tsui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, LOOK ERAS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
