AVELLINO was withdrawn on 17.2.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LUCKY SHINY DAY (Apprentice H T Mo). Before being allowed to race again, AVELLINO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of HINYUEN SWIFTNESS, resulting in HINYUEN SWIFTNESS becoming unbalanced and PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT losing ground.
Shortly after the start, SPORTS MASTER and LUCKY STORM were crowded for room between HUNYUEN SWIFTNESS and DEAL MAKER which shifted in.
From a wide barrier, SPEEDY WALLY was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
After travelling a short distance, BRILLIANT DREAM shifted in and bumped DEAL MAKER.
BEAUTY DAY lost its left hind plate passing the 1150 Metres.
After the 800 Metres, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT commenced to prove difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions.
HINYUEN SWIFTNESS was held up for clear running until passing the 350 Metres.
Passing the 300 Metres, AMAZING SATCHMO was directed out away from the heels of SUPER EIGHTEEN to obtain clear running.
SPEEDY WALLY lay in under pressure in the Straight.
For the majority of the race, PADDINGTON travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
A veterinary inspection of FLAME LILY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
AMAZING SATCHMO, VITAL SPRING and BEAUTY DAY were sent for sampling.
