Steward Report Predict Pace Map
RICHCITY FORTUNE (M Chadwick) shifted out on jumping and bumped GRACYDAD. A short distance after the start, RICHCITY FORTUNE and GRACYDAD were steadied when crowded for room between NICE FANDANGO and CALIFORNIA ASPAR which got its head on the side and shifted out after being brushed by EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE. In this incident, CALIFORNIA ASPAR became unbalanced after making contact with RICHCITY FORTUNE, resulting in that horse shifting out further. After the race, M Chadwick stated that he was instructed to lead on RICHCITY FORTUNE, however, after being hampered in this incident, he was not able to obtain as forward a position as had been hoped. SHOW MISSION shifted out shortly after the start and bumped ELEGANCE PROMISE. From the outside barriers, HAPPY HAPPY, SHARPMIND and DR RACE were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. FUNNY BUDDIES was also steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, FUNNY BUDDIES lay in and brushed the running rail. Passing the 400 Metres, HAPPY HAPPY was checked away from the heels of GRACYDAD. At the entrance to the Straight, DR RACE shifted out to obtain clear running and bumped the hindquarters of MASTER VIKING which became unbalanced. P-C Boudot (GRACYDAD) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of HAPPY HAPPY, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. P-C Boudot was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 31 January 2018 and to expire on Monday, 5 February 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Boudot’s good race riding record. Passing the 150 Metres, SHARPMIND shifted in under pressure, resulting in its rider, U Rispoli, changing his whip over into his right hand. Over about the final 100 Metres, FUNNY BUDDIES lay in under pressure. Near the 75 Metres, SHOW MISSION was shifted out away from the heels of NICE FANDANGO. When SHOW MISSION was shifted out, GRACYDAD, which was following, was inconvenienced. Throughout the race, MASTER VIKING travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA ASPAR immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE and NICE FANDANGO were sent for sampling. <11/1/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>CALIFORNIA ASPAR, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. CALIFORNIA ASPAR was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA ASPAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
