YOURTHEWONFORME shifted out at the start and bumped WINNING CONTROLLER. RISING POWER and EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA bumped at the start. GOBI STORM and BELOVED also bumped on jumping. OWNERS’ DELIGHT was slow to begin. A short distance after the start, OWNERS’ DELIGHT, which was ridden along in an endeavour to make up lost ground, and CITY WINNER were crowded for room between THE INVINCIBLE and EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA which got its head on the side and shifted out when being steadied to obtain cover. In this incident, both CITY WINNER and OWNERS’ DELIGHT became badly unbalanced after making heavy contact. When being steadied approaching the winning post on the first occasion, BELOVED got its head up on a number of occasions. EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA, which was following, was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse after passing the winning post on the first occasion. Near the 1050 Metres, BORN TO RACE got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of VICTORY MUSIC. Near the 550 Metres, BORN TO RACE and HAY GO LUCKY raced tight as BORN TO RACE shifted out to obtain clear running. Shortly after entering the Straight, BORN TO RACE was bumped by YOURTHEWONFORME which shifted out. BORN TO RACE then raced tight between YOURTHEWONFORME and HAY GO LUCKY which shifted in. Approaching the 250 Metres, BORN TO RACE, which was commencing to give ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of YOURTHEWONFORME (J Moreira) which shifted out. J Moreira was reprimanded. At the 200 Metres, VICTORY MUSIC was bumped by YOURTHEWONFORME which shifted in. J Moreira was advised to exercise more care. For the majority of the race, HAY GO LUCKY travelled wide and without cover. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of C Schofield (BELOVED), 4th placegetter, and M Chadwick (EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA), 5th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect their horse’s finishing position, they were nonetheless reminded of their obligation to ride their mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit. A veterinary inspection of BORN TO RACE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. YOURTHEWONFORME and WINNING CONTROLLER were sent for sampling.
