WINNING FAITH began only fairly. SUNSHINE UNIVERSE and SHANGHAI MASTER bumped at the start. BRAVO WATCHMAN shifted out on jumping and bumped GOLDEN SUN. DUKEDOM and MAJESTIC ENDEAVOUR were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, SUNSHINE UNIVERSE failed to muster speed and consequently raced back in the field. Near the 1150 Metres, WINNING FAITH was steadied away from the heels of PLAY WISE which was taken in by BRAVO WATCHMAN. SILVER SPUN travelled keenly in the lead in the middle stages. After the 600 Metres, GOLDEN SUN was bumped and taken wider by BRAVO WATCHMAN (J Moreira) which shifted to the outside of WONDERFUL JOURNEY. J Moreira was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Rounding the Home Turn, ENREACHING was taken wider by SHANGHAI MASTER which, after being shifted out away from the heels of GOLDEN SUN, then got its head on the side and lay out. After the 200 Metres, when commencing to give ground, EVERBRAVE got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure. For the major part of the race, ENREACHING travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of SILVER SPUN immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea and confirmed the horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. Before being allowed to race again, SILVER SPUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOLDEN SUN and BRAVO WATCHMAN were sent for sampling.
