After leaving the Parade Ring but prior to entering the track, WISH COME TRUE became very fractious which resulted in its rider, W M Lai, being dislodged. WISH COME TRUE, which continued to be fractious, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. WISH COME TRUE will be required to undergo a satisfactory parade test prior to its next race start. W M Lai was subsequently examined by the Club’s Racing Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements. RICHCITY FORTUNE shifted out at the start and bumped GOUTEN OF GARO which began awkwardly. PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT (K C Leung) shifted out at the start and bumped HOT HOT PEPPER. After the race, K C Leung advised that his saddle shifted back in the early part of the race, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. Shortly after the start, MASSIVE MOVE got its head on the side, shifted out and bumped CHEERFULJET. SPORTS MASTER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the 400 Metres, TOURBILLON KING gave ground abruptly and collapsed, resulting in its rider, C Y Ho, being dislodged. C Y Ho was subsequently examined by the Club’s Racing Medical Officer who advised that Jockey Ho was unfit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements. Apprentice H T Mo, the rider of MASSIVE MOVE, was spoken to for continuing to ride his mount out after passing the winning post. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GOUTEN OF GARO, J Moreira stated that the horse, which was having its first race start, travelled keenly in the early stages after being bumped by RICHCITY FORTUNE on jumping. He said however that near the 800 Metres he was able to shift GOUTEN OF GARO behind runners and the horse then travelled well. He said he placed GOUTEN OF GARO under pressure after the 400 Metres and the horse initially quickened well, however, over the final 200 Metres GOUTEN OF GARO came under pressure and then was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of GOUTEN OF GARO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GOUTEN OF GARO, MASSIVE MOVE and FISH N’ CHIPS were sent for sampling. Samples were also taken from TOURBILLON KING.
