T Berry (EXPERTO CREDE) was fined $7,000 for weighing in 2 lbs overweight after the race. BULLISH SMART shifted out at the start and inconvenienced LITTLE ISLAND. STAR SUPERIOR was bumped by OUTLAWED on jumping. GIOVANNI BATTISTA and TURIN PEARL bumped at the start. From wide barriers, WILLIE WAY, MAMBO ROCK, GIANT TURTLE and EXPERTO CREDE were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1200 Metres, OUTLAWED was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RED MARVEL. Making the turn after the 700 Metres, RED MARVEL was crowded for room between KHAKI which got its head on the side and lay out and TRAVEL DATUK (C Y Ho) which lay in. C Y Ho stated that after becoming unbalanced in this incident, TRAVEL DATUK became further unbalanced when bumped by RED MARVEL approaching the 600 Metres and because TRAVEL DATUK was commencing to come under pressure, he rode his mount along in an attempt to prevent RED MARVEL from shifting out, however, that horse was travelling better than TRAVEL DATUK and was able to shift to the outside of TURIN PEARL at this time, resulting in TRAVEL DATUK being taken wider. Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, STAR SUPERIOR was held up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of OUTLAWED. At the entrance to the Straight, GIANT TURTLE was shifted in away from the heels of TRAVEL FIRST to obtain clear running. Shortly after entering the Straight, GIOVANNI BATTISTA, which was commencing to give ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of STAR SUPERIOR which shifted to the outside of OUTLAWED to obtain clear running. Near the 150 Metres, TRAVEL DATUK was steadied after being awkwardly placed inside the heels of EXPERTO CREDE (T Berry) which shifted in under pressure. T Berry was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he must make every endeavour to keep his mounts on a straight course. Throughout the race, TRAVEL DATUK travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of MAMBO ROCK, KHAKI and TRAVEL FIRST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. RED MARVEL and WILLIE WAY were sent for sampling. <2/11/2017 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that GIOVANNI BATTISTA had sustained an injury to the right front tendon on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, GIOVANNI BATTISTA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MAMBO ROCK, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. MAMBO ROCK was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D J Hall this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, MAMBO ROCK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
