MOST BEAUTIFUL began only fairly and then shortly after the start raced tight between BIG TIME BABY and NUCLEAR POWER which was taken out by LUCKY GUY which shifted out on jumping.
HIT THE BID began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BOMBAY BLITZ which was crowded for room inside MYTHICAL EMPEROR which began awkwardly. After this, HIT THE BID was vigorously ridden along, however, was slow to muster speed.
Shortly after the start, FANTASTIC FEELING was momentarily crowded for room inside HIGH FIVE which shifted in. After this, from the outside barriers, FANTASTIC FEELING and HIGH FIVE were shifted across behind runners.
After the 900 Metres, BORNTOACHIEVE shifted out into tight running between BIG TIME BABY and NUCLEAR POWER. BORNTOACHIEVE then raced tight between those horses and approaching the 800 Metres was momentarily steadied when NUCLEAR POWER shifted in.
Passing the 800 Metres, HIT THE BID was awkwardly placed outside BORNTOACHIEVE which shifted out.
Near the 250 Metres, BOMBAY BLITZ was momentarily eased when disappointed for running between HIGH FIVE and HIT THE BID which shifted out.
Over the concluding stages, PAKISTAN BABY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of NUCLEAR POWER which lay out under pressure.
When questioned, M Chadwick (PAKISTAN BABY) stated that he was given identical instructions tonight as he was given at the horse’s most recent start when he rode PAKISTAN BABY. He said on both occasions he was instructed to have the horse race in about a midfield position if possible. He said last start he rode his mount vigorously for a considerable distance in the early stages, however, PAKISTAN BABY did not show sufficient speed and raced further back in the field than had been hoped. He said in tonight’s race, from a wide barrier, he again rode his mount along in the early stages and PAKISTAN BABY showed more speed than it did at its last start. He said he looked to his inside passing the 1000 Metres and it appeared to him that it would be difficult for PAKISTAN BABY to obtain a position in about midfield given the makeup of the field at that time. He said rather than unnecessarily restrain PAKISTAN BABY or cover unnecessary ground by racing wide, he felt it was best to continue to ride PAKISTAN BABY forward to obtain a position closer to the rail. He said however that he was not able to obtain cover and was obliged to race in a more forward position than had been intended, however, he believed that the circumstances of the race led to PAKISTAN BABY being ridden in this manner.
A veterinary inspection of HIT THE BID and MOST BEAUTIFUL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of LUCKY GUY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
MOST BEAUTIFUL, MYTHICAL EMPEROR and BIG TIME BABY were sent for sampling.
