HO HO FEEL began awkwardly. ENSURING and GORGEOUS AGAIN began only fairly. Soon after the start, XINJIANG YARN was steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Passing the 600 Metres, GORGEOUS KING and ENSURING raced tight for a short distance and made contact. Approaching the 100 Metres, GORGEOUS KING shifted in abruptly under pressure. In the Straight , JOLLY GENE lay in under pressure. When questioned, Z Purton (GORGEOUS AGAIN) stated that when GORGEOUS KING shifted away from the rail approaching the Home Turn, he was able to make up ground quickly on GORGEOUS AGAIN to be positioned behind the leading trio MIGHTY BOY, JOLLY GENE and SERGEANT TITANIUM. He said on the Home Turn he noticed that MIGHTY BOY was under pressure, had commenced to lay out and shifted away from the rail. He said as there were three leaders racing on terms and GORGEOUS KING was racing to his outside, he felt that there were no other opportunities to improve and as he felt that MIGHTY BOY was likely to shift out further when placed under pressure in the early part of the Straight, he positioned GORGEOUS AGAIN to the inside of the heels of MIGHTY BOY to take advantage of that run. He said passing the 400 Metres MIGHTY BOY initially maintained its line, however, he felt that he was still in a position to obtain a run on the inside of that horse, but when MIGHTY BOY shifted in marginally approaching the 300 Metres, he was obliged to check GORGEOUS AGAIN and shift out to continue improving. A veterinary inspection of XINJIANG YARN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GORGEOUS AGAIN, GORGEOUS KING and HO HO FEEL were sent for sampling.
