On arrival at the track, it was noted that VERY RICH MAN had sustained an abrasion over the front of its right front fetlock. VERY RICH MAN was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in in his opinion it was suitable to race. On arrival at the Start, O Doleuze expressed concern regarding the action of TRAVEL SUCCESSOR. TRAVEL SUCCESSOR was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. SEE ME MOW began only fairly and then failed to muster speed despite being ridden along. MASTER VIKING began awkwardly. WILD BOY shifted out at the start and bumped TRAVEL SUCCESSOR. Shortly after the start, MULTIGOGO raced tight between MASTER VIKING and WILD BOY which was steadied to obtain a position with cover from a wide barrier. TRAVEL SUCCESSOR and SMART SALUTE were also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover from wide barriers. Near the 650 Metres, PEARL FURU was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CLEVER SPIRIT. For some distance after the 600 Metres, SEE ME NOW raced close to the heels of PEARL FURU. Passing the 300 Metres, GOLD TALENT was shifted in away from the heels of LYRIC ACE. When giving ground approaching the 200 Metres, LYRIC ACE got its head on the side and lay out. Approaching the 200 Metres, SMART SALUTE was shifted out away from the heels of PEARL FURU which shifted out marginally before being corrected by its rider. C Murray, the rider of MASTER VIKING, was warned against the practice of allowing his mounts to shift ground under pressure. Throughout the race, MULTIGOGO travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that VERY RICH MAN was lame in its right front leg. The Veterinary Officer also reported that WILD BOY was lame in its left front leg and an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, VERY RICH MAN and WILD BOY will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SEE ME NOW immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CLEVER SPIRIT, MASTER VIKING and CONFUCIUS SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
