OPTIMISM began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped AEROLUMINANCE. GOLDEN PARTNERS, SPICY DOUBLE and HIGH SPEED METRO were crowded for room on jumping between KING OF SMARTS which shifted out and PLANET GIANT (K C Leung) which shifted in a short distance after the start. Then from a wide barrier, HIGH SPEED METRO was shifted across behind runners. K C Leung was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, OPTIMISM and AEROLUMINANCE raced tight as a result of OPTIMISM laying out. After this, OPTIMISM continued to lay out for the majority of the race. Approaching the 1300 Metres, TELECOM BOOM was steadied away from the heels of SPICY DOUBLE (J Moreira) which shifted in when barely clear. J Moreira was advised to ensure that he gives proper clearance when shifting ground. In the early stages, ABLE TALENT was left racing wide and without cover and was allowed to stride forward to settle outside the lead passing the 1000 Metres. For some distance approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, HIGH SPEED METRO proved difficult to settle and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of AEROLUMINANCE. Approaching the 900 Metres, GOLDEN PARTNERS was left racing wide and without cover. Rounding the Home Turn, ABLE TALENT was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of BORN TO RACE. Shortly after straightening, TRUE COMMENT was shifted away from the heels of SPICY DOUBLE which shifted in away from the heels of KING OF SMARTS. A veterinary inspection of TRUE COMMENT and GOLDEN PARTNERS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. AEROLUMINANCE, PLANET GIANT and BORN TO RACE were sent for sampling.
