GOLDINGTON HORN and BELOVED began only fairly. ROCKET LET WIN was crowded for room on jumping between LE PANACHE and DAZZLE WINNER which shifted in. After this, ROCKET LET WIN was ridden along in an attempt to obtain a more forward position, however, failed to muster speed. J Moreira (RAGING BULL) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching and passing the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in and in so doing directed GOLDEN DEER inwards, causing that horse to shift in onto BELOVED which was taken in onto PEARL FURU which in turn was taken in onto DAZZLE WINNER which was crowded onto ROCKET LET WIN, resulting in that horse being forced across the rightful running of LE PANACHE which was severely checked and struck the heels of ROCKET LET WIN which was also badly checked approaching the 1000 Metres. J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 10 May 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 14 May 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Moreira’s good race riding record. After the race, M L Yeung (LE PANACHE) stated that after being severely checked, LE PANACHE did not feel comfortable in its action immediately following the incident and for this reason he did not pressure the horse and followed the field. A veterinary inspection of LE PANACHE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, LE PANACHE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of RAGING BULL and ROCKET LET WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. RAGING BULL, STARLIGHT and BORN DRAGON were sent for sampling.
