LAMAROSA was withdrawn on 28.3.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter ALL MY GAIN (K C Leung). Before being allowed to race again, LAMAROSA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On arrival at the Start, it was noted that MARVEL TRIBE had lost its left front plate. After this plate was refitted, MARVEL TRIBE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. MARVEL TRIBE shifted out at the start and bumped LET'S TAKE IT EASY. Shortly after the start, PAKISTAN BABY shifted out and bumped CHEER WIN. From wide barriers, HARD BALL GET, ALL MY GAIN and PEACE N PROSPERITY were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Approaching the 1000 Metres, CHEER WIN got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied away from the heels of MARVEL TRIBE. Near the 950 Metres, ALL MY GAIN got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of CHEER WIN which continued to be awkwardly placed behind MARVEL TRIBE. For some distance after the 800 Metres, CHEER WIN had to be ridden along when reluctant to improve its position between TRUMP and A BEAUTIFUL. Approaching the 600 Metres, PAKISTAN BABY became badly unbalanced after shifting in and bumping the running rail of its own accord. For some distance in the middle stages, A BEAUTIFUL got its head on the side and lay out. For the majority of the race, LUCKY DAY travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Throughout the race, OUR HERO travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, K C Leung (ALL MY GAIN) stated that at the entrance to the Straight he was following OUR HERO and racing just to the inside of CHEER WIN. He said although he was aware that there was a run to the inside of OUR HERO which was available to him, he felt that with the C+3 rail position tonight, it was more likely that clear running would be available to ALL MY GAIN by shifting to the outside of CHEER WIN rather than attempting to improve inside OUR HERO. He said he felt that were OUR HERO to shift in or MARVEL TRIBE to his inside shift ground outwards, ALL MY GAIN would be disappointed for running and therefore he elected to shift to the outside of CHEER WIN and was able to obtain clear running for the remainder of the race. He said when shifting to the outside of CHEER WIN, ALL MY GAIN was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse near the 250 Metres. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ALL MY GAIN was found to have sustained a wound to the right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, ALL MY GAIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY DAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TRUMP and CHEER WIN were sent for sampling.
