COOL BROTHERS was difficult to load and then became fractious in the barriers. Before being allowed to race again, COOL BROTHERS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. GENERAL O’REILLY began only fairly. COOL BROTHERS got its head up for some distance shortly after the start when being steadied to obtain cover. Shortly after the start, YOUNG DREAMER, which was steadied to obtain cover, became unbalanced when crowded for room between PROUD SKY which shifted out marginally and HURRICANE HUNTER which shifted in. Passing the 800 Metres, DYNAMIC LIONS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PENNY LANE. Passing the 600 Metres, DYNAMIC LIONS was taken wider by PENNY LANE which shifted out after being awkwardly placed behind CHEERS CONQUEROR. Passing the 400 Metres, PENNY LANE broke down in its right front leg, resulting in its rider, K Teetan, being dislodged. K Teetan was subsequently examined by the Club’s doctor and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements. Throughout the race, CHEERS CONQUEROR travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of CHEERS CONQUEROR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. G-ONE LOVER and PENANG HALL were sent for sampling.
