MIZZEN GREY was slow to begin. STARRY STARLIES and FIVE STARS AGENT bumped at the start. From wide barriers, EQUITY DOCTRINE and NO LAUGHING MATTER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. In the early stages, PLANET GIANT was steadied to obtain cover. For some distance passing the winning post on the first occasion, ATOMIC BLAST raced tight inside SPEEDY WALLY which got its head on the side and lay in despite the efforts of its rider. Approaching the 1200 Metres, PLANET GIANT and EQUITY DOCTRINE raced tight. Passing the 1200 Metres, JIMSON THE FAMOUS was steadied away from the heels of RAINBOW GOLD. After the 1200 Metres, CIRCUIT FORTUNE was left racing wide and without cover and subsequently finished tailed out. The performance of CIRCUIT FORTUNE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CIRCUIT FORTUNE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Making the turn near the 700 Metres, PLANET GIANT was crowded for room between EQUITY DOCTRINE and MIZZEN GREY which shifted out marginally. Making the turn after the 700 Metres, FIVE STARS AGENT commenced to lay out and approaching the 600 Metres bumped RAINBOW GOLD. Passing the 300 Metres, MIZZEN GREY was crowded for room between JIMSON THE FAMOUS which shifted in when commencing to give ground and PLANET GIANT (N Rawiller) which shifted out to obtain clear running. N Rawiller was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SPEEDY WALLY had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of RAINBOW GOLD immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, RAINBOW GOLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SPEEDY WALLY, ATOMIC BLAST and FIVE STARS AGENT were sent for sampling.
