On arrival at the barriers, it was noted that SKY MAN had lost its left front plate. SKY MAN was replated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. FANTASTIC FEELING began awkwardly and lost ground. From the outside barriers, LAMAROSA and GREAT CHARM were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Despite being aggressively ridden along in the early stages, HONEST HORSE failed to muster speed. Passing the 1100 Metres, PEACE N PROSPERITY momentarily raced tight inside RAGING BULL. Making the turn approaching the 1000 Metres, FANTASTIC FEELING got its head up when awkwardly placed outside the heels of MOST BEAUTIFUL. GREEN ENERGY got its head on the side and lay out making the turn after the 1000 Metres and again after the 500 Metres and then in the Straight hung out and proved difficult to ride. Passing the 900 Metres, LAMAROSA commenced to travel keenly and shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of FANTASTIC FEELING. After this, LAMAROSA continued to prove difficult to settle for some distance. A veterinary inspection of GREAT CHARM immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and had bled from both nostrils. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT CHARM will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of FANTASTIC FEELING and LAMAROSA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. RAGING BULL, VICTORY MARVEL and PEACE N PROSPERITY were sent for sampling. <9/2/2017 Additional Veterinary Report>GREAT CHARM, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and had bled from both nostrils. GREAT CHARM was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer R Gibson this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, GREAT CHARM will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
