HIGH AND MIGHTY was slow to begin and was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. LOVE SHOCK shifted out at the start and bumped GREEN CARD. A short distance later, LOVE SHOCK, GREEN CARD and DIVINE BOY lost ground when crowded for room between FABULOUS NOVEMBER and BACK IN BLACK which shifted out abruptly despite the considerable efforts of its rider to prevent it from shifting ground. Shortly after the start, SECRET COMMAND was hampered when steadied away from the heels of FABULOUS NOVEMBER which shifted out. From a wide barrier, LUCKY DAY was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. FABULOUS NOVEMBER lost its right hind plate near the 900 Metres. Approaching and passing the 800 Metres, FABULOUS NOVEMBER travelled keenly. After the 700 Metres, GREEN CARD commenced to prove difficult to settle and got its head up for some distance when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FABULOUS NOVEMBER. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, FABULOUS NOVEMBER raced tight between HAPPY YEAH YEAH and BACK IN BLACK which shifted out marginally. Throughout the race, HAPPY YEAH YEAH travelled wide and without cover. After the race, B Prebble reported that passing the 700 Metres HIGH AND MIGHTY became momentarily unbalanced in its action. CHARITY JOY and LOVE SHOCK were sent for sampling.
