HAPPY FIERY DRAGON began only fairly. Shortly after the start, DYNAMIC VOYAGE raced tight between HAPPY FIERY DRAGON and MANHATTAN STRIKER which shifted out. From wide barriers, OPTIMISM, STARRY STARLIES and TREASURE AND GOLD were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 1100 Metres, DYNAMIC VOYAGE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of HAPPY FIERY DRAGON. After the 1100 Metres, INTELLECTUAL GLIDE travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover. For a considerable distance after the 800 Metres, OPTIMISM got its head on the side and hung out. After the 500 Metres, TREASURE AND GOLD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MANHATTAN STRIKER. After the 400 Metres, STARRY STARLIES was shifted out away from the heels of HAPPY WAY WINNER when that horse in turn shifted out away from TREASURE AND GOLD. Passing the 100 Metres, INTELLECTUAL GLIDE raced in restricted room between EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA and FURIOUS PEGASUS which shifted out slightly. Close to the finishing line, FURIOUS PEGASUS was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MANHATTAN STRIKER and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race. Throughout the race, SHOW MISSION travelled wide and without cover. After the race, it was reported that CHANS DELIGHT had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY FIERY DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY WAY WINNER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. HAPPY FIERY DRAGON, TREASURE AND GOLD and FRIENDS FOREVER were sent for sampling.
