When proceeding to the barriers, the tongue tie fitted to ROMAN ODYSSEY became dislodged, requiring the tongue tie having to be replaced behind the barriers. BEAUTY MASTER and TRAVEL DATUK began awkwardly. SUPER WISE and WINNING VANGOGH bumped heavily at the start. Shortly after the start, ROMAN ODYSSEY, HERE WE COME and ROMAN IMPERO were all badly crowded for room between FOREVER RED and EXCITING MOMENT which got its head on the side and shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. After the 500 Metres, BIG FLASH hung in under pressure and proved difficult to ride. Passing the 200 Metres, FOREVER RED was shifted out away from the heels of ACE KING. Near the 150 Metres, HERE WE COME was shifted out away from the heels of TRAVEL DATUK after being held up for clear running behind that horse. Approaching the 150 Metres, MORDICUS was steadied after getting its head on the side and shifting in away from ACE KING which shifted to the inside of THOR THE GREATEST to obtain clear running. MORDICUS then gave ground abruptly. A veterinary inspection of MORDICUS immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MORDICUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Passing the 150 Metres, BIG FLASH was brushed by ROMAN ODYSSEY which shifted in. At the 100 Metres, HERE WE COME shifted in and bumped BIG FLASH. After the race, it was reported that EXCITING MOMENT was lame in its right front leg with a swollen tendon and that HERE WE COME was lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, EXCITING MOMENT and HERE WE COME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of WINNING VANGOGH immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING VANGOGH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of FOREVER RED immediately following the race found the horse to have bled from both nostril and to have sustained a cut to the left hind fetlock. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY MASTER and BIG FLASH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ACE KING and SUPER WISE were sent for sampling. <23/1/2017 Additional Veterinary Report>WINNING VANGOGH, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. WINNING VANGOGH was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C S Shum this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, WINNING VANGOGH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again. BEAUTY MASTER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. BEAUTY MASTER was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg.
