When being saddled, it was noted that SOARING WYVERN was lame in its right front leg. Acting on the advice from the Veterinary Officer that SOARING WYVERN was not suitable to race, that horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, SOARING WYVERN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GREAT TREASURE was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier. From the outside barrier, HARMONY PARTNERS was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start. Making the turn approaching the 900 Metres, WISKY commenced to travel strongly and shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of GOOD METHOD, resulting in HOUSE OF LUCK being badly crowded for room. WORLD RECORD travelled wide and without cover until near the 600 Metres. Rounding the Home Turn, WISKY was steadied when disappointed for running inside VICTORY DUKE. GOOD METHOD had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and then for some distance approaching and passing the 300 Metres raced tight, along with WISKY, between VICTORY DUKE and DASHING SUPER, both of which shifted marginal ground. Then approaching the 250 Metres, WISKY and GOOD METHOD were both steadied when unable to maintain their positions between VICTORY DUKE and DASHING SUPER which was giving ground. A veterinary inspection of VICTORY DUKE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. WORLD RECORD and CARE FREE PRINCE were sent for sampling.
