As a result of being dislodged from HAY GO LUCKY in Race 3, M Chadwick was stood down from the remainder of his riding engagements. As there was no other available riders to ride ISHVARA at the weight, permission was granted, in the exceptional circumstances, for S Clipperton to ride that horse 4 lbs overweight, 2 lbs in excess of what is available to be declared. UP AND COMING began only fairly and then was hampered when GREEN DISPATCH shifted in. From a wide barrier, WINNIE’S HONEY was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. DYNAMISM was also steadied shortly after the start and shifted across behind runners to obtain a position with cover. Passing the 1700 Metres, DIVINE BOY momentarily raced tight inside AMBITIOUS CHAMPION. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, GREEN DISPATCH was steadied when crowded for room inside STAR MAJESTIC which was taken in by BASIC TRILOGY which got its head on the side and shifted in away from ISHVARA. After the 1300 Metres, MAGICAL BEAUTY was left racing wide and without cover and passing the 1200 Metres was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead. Passing the 900 Metres, MAGICAL BEAUTY shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of TOP ACT which became unbalanced. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, DYNAMISM and AMBITIOUS CHAMPION raced tight. Passing the 500 Metres, GREEN DISPATCH was taken wider by WINNIE’S HONEY which shifted out to improve. Near the 250 Metres, STAR MAJESTIC was shifted out away from the heels of BASIC TRILOGY which was shifted out after initially laying in and inconveniencing DIVINE BOY. Passing the 250 Metres, UP AND COMING was steadied when disappointed for running between TRAVEL FIRST and DIVINE BOY. Approaching the 200 Metres, DIVINE BOY, which was racing tight to the inside of ISHVARA, was severely hampered when crowded for room between ISHVARA and TRAVEL FIRST (Apprentice K K Chiong) which shifted out. In this incident, ISHVARA became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by DIVINE BOY, resulting in that horse shifting in further. In the circumstances, Apprentice Chiong was severely reprimanded and told, in the opinion of the Stewards, she should have done more than she did on this occasion to prevent TRAVEL FIRST from shifting out. On returning to the stable, UP AND COMING was found to be displaying post-race distress. Before being allowed to race again, UP AND COMING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BASIC TRILOGY and GREEN DISPATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The Stewards will interview K Teetan, the rider of DYNAMISM, regarding his riding of that horse after the 900 Metres at which time WINNIE’S HONEY was able to improve its position inside DYNAMISM after initially racing behind that horse. WINNIE’S HONEY and DYNAMISM were sent for sampling.
