ACTUARIAT bounded in the air at the start and then was hampered by DASHING KING which shifted in. MR PELE was slow to begin. DINOZZO and INVENTOR bumped at the start. From the outside barrier, PREMIUM CHAMPION was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. An inquiry into the reason for SURE PEACE being checked and CLOUD NINE being hampered passing the winning post on the first occasion was adjourned until a date to be fixed as Apprentice H N Wong, the rider of DASHING KING, had been transported to hospital after this race. GENERAL SHERMAN, which was following SURE PEACE, was checked in consequence and MR PELE, which was following GENERAL SHERMAN, was hampered. When the inquiry resumes, evidence will also be taken from N Rawiller, the rider of INVENTOR. The Stewards opened and immediately adjourned an inquiry into the reason for DASHING KING falling passing the 400 Metres, resulting in its rider, Apprentice H N Wong being dislodged. In this incident, U Rispoli was dislodged from MR PELE when that horse was severely checked and GENERAL SHERMAN was also severely checked. ACTUARIAT, INDUSTRIALIST WAY and PREMIUM CHAMPION were also severely hampered. After suffering interference in this incident, INDUSTRIALIST WAY and PREMIUM CHAMPION were eased down. When the inquiry resumes, evidence will also be taken from C Schofield, the rider of CLOUD NINE, and Z Purton, the rider of DINOZZO. Approaching the 200 Metres, CLOUD NINE raced in restricted room between DINOZZO and INVENTOR which shifted out marginally under pressure. A veterinary inspection of MR PELE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination of WINNAM showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea and also found the horse to be a ”roarer” and lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, WINNAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PACKING DRAGON and DINOZZO were sent for sampling. Samples were also taken from DASHING KING.
