WINGOLD began only fairly and then shortly after the start was crowded for room between THUNDER DASH which began very awkwardly and shifted out and FANTASTICLIFE which was bumped by INNOVATIVE WINNER ATOMIC BLAST shifted out at the start and bumped LUCKY BOLE. From the outside barrier, PLAIN BLUE BANNER was steadied shortly after the start and shifted across behind runners. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, SILVER GATSBY failed to muster speed. Passing the 400 Metres, WINGOLD was shifted out across the heels of TREASURE AND GOLD. Then passing the 300 Metres, WINGOLD was shifted to the outside of FANTASTICLIFE when disappointed for running between that horse and TREASURE AND GOLD. For the majority of the race, both BRILLIANT MONKEYS and LUCKY BOLE travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of BRILLIANT MONKEYS immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. The performance of BRILLIANT MONKEYS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BRILLIANT MONKEYS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FANTASTICLIFE and WINGOLD were sent for sampling.
