As the start was effected, ENTRUSTING lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. WEALTHY FORTUNE was crowded for room on jumping between AUTUMN GOLD and KING BOUNTIFUL, both of which shifted ground. From the outside barrier, SUPER FORM was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 1700 Metres, the buckle of N Rawiller’s (SMART UNION) right stirrup leather broke, resulting in the stirrup iron coming loose and N Rawiller being severely disadvantaged for the remainder of the race. After the race, the Stewards, in the presence of N Rawiller, inspected the stirrup leathers used by Jockey Rawiller in this race and found this gear to be relatively new and in good condition. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, AZTEC EMPIRE was left racing wide and without cover. Approaching the 600 Metres, SUPERNATURAL was momentarily crowded for room between TRUE COMMENT and AZTEC EMPIRE which improved its position into the lead. Approaching and passing the 600 Metres, CASA MASTER and SPEEDY WALLY raced tight and making the turn after the 600 Metres CASA MASTER raced in restricted room between SPEEDY WALLY and THE RAINBOW. Shortly after entering the Straight, TRUE COMMENT was bumped by AZTEC EMPIRE which lay in. In the Straight, SPEEDY WALLY raced with its head on the side and lay in under pressure. A veterinary inspection of WEALTHY FORTUNE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of CASA MASTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. SPEEDY WALLY and AUTUMN GOLD were sent for sampling.
