RICHCITY FORTUNE shifted out abruptly at the start, resulting in GOOD CHOICE being badly hampered when taken out. From the outside barriers, RICHCITY FORTUNE and GOOD CHOICE were then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. BEST TANGO began only fairly. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, PEARL FURU commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of SOUL ACHIEVER after racing tight inside CIRCUIT FORTUNE which was taken in by BEST TANGO which in turn was taken in by GLORY STAR (C Schofield). C Schofield was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room to runners on his inside. Also passing the winning post on the first occasion, NEWSWIRE FREE became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CIRCUIT FORTUNE. Passing the 1300 Metres, SOUL ACHIEVER raced tight inside MR KOOL which got its head on the side and hung in away from GREAT TOPLIGHT. Near the 450 Metres, BEST TANGO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MR KOOL. Passing the 300 Metres, GLORY STAR, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of MR KOOL (M Chadwick) which got its head on the side and hung in. MR KOOL continued to hang in passing the 250 Metres and bumped SOUL ACHIEVER. Approaching the 150 Metres, SOUL ACHIEVER was momentarily steadied when crowded for room inside MR KOOL which continued to hang in and proved difficult to ride. Approaching the 100 Metres, NEWSWIRE FREE got its head on the side, shifted in and bumped MR KOOL which, when continuing to hang in, shifted in, resulting in SOUL ACHIEVER being tightened onto GREAT TOPLIGHT and close to the finishing line being steadied. M Chadwick was advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that MR KOOL was hanging in and proving very difficult to ride, nonetheless he must make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground even in difficult circumstances. A veterinary inspection of GOOD CHOICE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of GLORY STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. SOUL ACHIEVER, VICTORY BOYS and NEWSWIRE FREE were sent for sampling.
