As the start was effected, EXCEL ONESELF lifted its front feet off the ground and began awkwardly. HROVAT, HAPPY SURVEYS and CHOICE TREASURE were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Making the turn after the 1000 Metres, EXCEL ONESELF got its head up when travelling keenly and shifted out away from the heels of FLYING TOURBILLON. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, EXCEL ONESELF shifted out after being checked away from the heels of HARBOUR NOVA which was awkwardly placed behind I'M A WITNESS. This resulted in FANTASTIC FEELING, which was racing to the outside of EXCEL ONESELF, being hampered and taken wider. After the 500 Metres, HAPPY SURVEYS raced tight inside SUPER TURBO. Rounding the Home Turn, EXCEL ONESELF shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of FANTASTIC FEELING. After this, EXCEL ONESELF was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT for some distance. Passing the 300 Metres, SUPER TURBO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HARBOUR NOVA which drifted in. Also passing the 300 Metres, ELITE SPIRIT was directed away from the heels of EXCEL ONESELF. Passing the 200 Metres, EXCEL ONESELF was steadied when crowded for room between PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT and SUPER TURBO (C Y Ho) which, when shifting out to obtain clear running, bumped EXCEL ONESELF on the shoulder. EXCEL ONESELF was then held up for clear running for some distance after this. C Y Ho was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Approaching the 100 Metres, SUPER TURBO and PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT raced tight as SUPER TURBO improved into tight running between PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT and I'M A WITNESS. Passing the winning post, FLYING TOURBILLON jumped a shadow on the track. Throughout the race, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT and EXCEL ONESELF immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER TURBO, FLYING TOURBILLON and THOR THE GREATEST were sent for sampling.
