FUN TAPESTRY and SUGAR began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, HEROIC GURU raced tight between CHOICE TREASURE and HEARTS KEEPER which shifted out. From a wide barrier, POLYMER WIN was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 900 Metres, BRAVE BROTHER was steadied when crowded for room between ALL GREAT FRIENDS and CLEVER BEAVER which got its head on the side and shifted out marginally towards the heels of WINNING KING. HEARTS KEEPER, which was following CLEVER BEAVER, improved to be racing inside that horse where there was insufficient room, resulting in HEARTS KEEPER having to be checked passing the 800 Metres. CLEVER BEAVER lost its right hind plate passing the 800 Metres. After the 800 Metres, ALL GREAT FRIENDS was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 650 Metres, HEARTS KEEPER, which was racing keenly, shifted out away from the heels of CLEVER BEAVER, resulting in NEW DEERFIELD being crowded for room when taken out onto SUGAR which became unbalanced after being bumped by NEW DEERFIELD. DOMINEER hung in under pressure in the Straight, resulting in its rider, Z Purton, changing his whip over into his right hand near the 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection of NEW DEERFIELD and SUGAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of CLEVER BEAVER immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, CLEVER BEAVER will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SMART FORWARD and DOMINEER were sent for sampling.
