TAKE THE RAP was withdrawn on raceday afternoon by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, TAKE THE RAP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BRILLIANT LIGHT shifted out and bumped BORNFREE at the start. On jumping, DIAMOND ANGEL (Apprentice C Y Lui) shifted out and bumped GRACYTOM. In this incident, Apprentice Lui lost the use of his right stirrup iron for some distance and then was not able to properly correct his foot in the iron until near the 600 Metres. From the outside barrier, GRACYTOM was taken across behind runners in the early stages. GOOD TIMES ROLL was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the 700 Metres, BRILLIANT LIGHT was left racing wide and without cover. In the Straight, SOLAR BOY lay out under pressure. When questioned, O Doleuze stated that, despite riding his mount vigorously throughout the race, CROATIA did not travel at any stage. He said he shifted his mount to the outside of runners in the middle stages to see whether CROATIA might commence to travel better, however, the horse continued to prove reluctant to race. A veterinary inspection of CROATIA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that BORNFREE had bled from both nostrils. SLEDGE HAMMER and GOOD TIMES ROLL were sent for sampling.
