SOLAR SPIRIT was withdrawn on 3.4.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FORTUNE TERRITORY. Before being allowed to race again, SOLAR SPIRIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CARRY THE ZEAL was slow to begin and shortly after the start was crowded for room between FORTUNE TERRITORY and FLASHING GUY which shifted out after being bumped by WHISTLE BLOWER. WILD BOY began only fairly and shortly after the start was bumped by CALL ME ACHIEVER which shifted out. FLYING CLASSIC and GRASSLAND DRAGON bumped shortly after the start. In the early stages, WELL FIT got its head on the side and lay out and near the 800 Metres was checked away from the heels of WILD BOY (Y T Cheng) which shifted out. Y T Cheng was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Passing the 700 Metres, DRAGON ENERGY was steadied away from the heels of FLYING CLASSIC which shifted out. Then near the 600 Metres, DRAGON ENERGY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLYING CLASSIC. JOYFUL LUCK, which was following, was hampered in consequence and then held up for clear running until passing the 400 Metres. Passing the 300 Metres, CARRY THE ZEAL was steadied after racing in restricted room between FIONN’S PRIDE and WELL FIT, both of which shifted ground. A veterinary inspection of CALL ME ACHIEVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of WELL FIT immediately following the race revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils. GRASSLAND DRAGON, FORTUNE TERRITORY and WILD BOY were sent for sampling. <7/4/2014 Additional Veterinary Report>WELL FIT, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time the horse was found to have bled from both nostrils. WELL FIT was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D Cruz this morning. He said at this time he found the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, WELL FIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
